I had a TR1a for a about a year until recently. Since then I have used a Dell 700m. I wanted a bigger laptop. Well…having lugged one around for five or six weeks (at 4.2 lbs.) I missed my TR size and weight, so I finally decided to get the T as a better investment since I never used the camera on the tr. First impressions is that this thing feels tiny, even compared to my tr. I know the dimensions are similar, but it feels more narrow and the keyboard wider (b/c no camera). I have not powered it up yet. I will wait to I get home to do that so I can fully charge it. Very noticable difference to the tr. I just went out several days ago and debated purchasing another tr, but I may be quite happy with the new T. Quality seems quite good. I will have to play more later and post more later.
Congrats, I think your the first on the board. It’s funny because a classmate of mine just bought a Dell 700m and I was noticing how much the screen was like Sony’s X-Bright…then I picked it up…ouch, it’s heavy.
The Dell was too heavy and the screen has way too much ghosting (cheap). The tr was viewable at multiple angles, whereas the dell needed a lot of moving angles of openness (open dregrees?) to get the screen viewable perfectly. However, I have not had the chance to turn it on, but it does has the same touchpad and buttons as the s150 I played with at the store a few times, which I detest. The buttons are too hard to press. I am not a touch tapper, so I actually like the Dell for this as I can zip along with it’s slick click buttons. Power supply is smaller, but seems to get very warm compared to the tr adapter. Cannot get over the smallness facter. Sitting next to the t, it makes the 700 look like a giant monster (and it is relatively small for a laptop). I will try for a picture or two later when I get home.

The Dell power adapter is just odd…I agree on that one. The keyboard on the Dell is much better then the TRs, IMO, not sure about the T as I haven’t seen one yet.
Yeah, I hated the Dell power supplies…with that weird tip. Also, the model i used need a very hard to find cable (the part that goes to the wall). :?
Related but somewhat tangential…
I need Sony to make a small universal power adapter that will work with multiple Sony devices. As I prepare for a trip to Hawaii, I dread the planning of AC adapter packing. iGo has a solution but it’s limited in its device support. For instance, none of their tips support my two Sony cameras (T1/F828) but they have full support for the P-series of Sony cameras.
Well I took some pics with the 700, but cannot figure out how to post them. I did not see it mentioned in the faq either. If someone can give me a pointer here, I will post them. P.S. I am posting with it now and must say that the keyboard is much better than the tr and similar to the s150 (not in size, but construction). In fact the more I use this thing it seems like the s150’s lil brother. I popped in a DVD (day after tomorrow) and found that is would hang at first. I hope this is not a sign of things to come. It was plugged in, so cpu hp is not the issue.

hmm
maybe we should talk about that statement… (just kidding)
I like my tr keyboard and i dont know why there is so much negativity around its keyboard. I use lots of keyboards and very rarely actually find one which would be a determining factor in a purchase…. unless the products were actually similar in all other respects.
Only wish there was a way to scroll while selecting large text documents as the touch pad makes it difficult to get everything without retouching and often takes many attempts (run out of room ... lol)
Maybe there is a way to scroll better while highlighiting…? ideas anyone?

Yeah, just left click with your other finger, then you can redrag…
