I’ve just bought myself an external USB 2.0 enclosure which holds my Samsung spinpoint 160GB 7200rpm drive.
Unfortuantely the read speeds seem to be very unimpressive (~12 MBytes/sec). Writing dosnt seems as bad at (<20 MBytes/sec) but I have seen reviews of this enclosure that report read speeds of 28 MBs which seems a reasonable figure. review of my enclosure can be found here
I have the TR3A, but not sure I ever got the USB 2.0 configured properly. Its obviously using USB 2.0 as those speeds are unattainable with 1.1 but at the same time it feels like something is still wrong.
The drivers for USB in my device manager report dates of 1/02/2002 and 1/07/2001. There is 1x “usb 2.0 root hub”, and 3x “USB root hub”, various “8280 1DB/DBM USB Universal host controller” and one “8280 1DB/DBM USB 2.0 Enhanced Universal host controller
Any ideas?
