[quote author=“Concura”]Thanks a bunch, OnMyWayUp!!
I’m sure since you are fond with molecular science, that you are already familiar with a general idea of how the DNA is used for the creation of proteins? I’ve never been involved in an Undergrad research before, so I’m not very sure how to answer your question.
For the most part, if it helps, the research will revolve around observations with yeast cells and, according to Dr. Duina, finding out what stimulates the activation of genes on the DNA (you know specific genes are activated depending on what environment the cell is placed under; what we need to find out, and what other scientists are also researching, is the thorough process of the activation of genes).
My dad has always wanted me to go into academia; teacher, professor, or school administrator. On the other hand, my mother wants me to pursue my dream freely; she graduated in the Philippines with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineer before coming to America. I’ve taken an interest in both Physics and Biology, but haven’t really decided what I really want to do in the future. I’d like to go into R&D, but then again, I might become a professor; I have no idea. Put me in the “undecided” category.
But thanks again!

well…you can be a professor and involved in R&D, don’t think you have to limit yourself to one side or the other….
