Sony just released (press release) “INDUSTRY’S FIRST DVD BURNER THAT COMBINES STAND-ALONE AND COMPUTER-ATTACHED DVD VIDEO RECORDING”
Sony’s new DVDirectâ„¢ (pronounced DVD Direct) device can connect directly to a camcorder or VCR for transferring tape-based video footage to DVD for playback on most home DVD players and PC DVD-ROM drives.
The DVDirect device can burn up to 12 hours of high-quality MPEG-2 video onto compatible double layer DVD+R DL discs or up to six hours onto standard single layer DVD+R or DVD+RW discs. The device can also automatically insert chapters onto DVDs through DVD+Video Recording (+VR), or “start and stop” recording, so users can jump to specific parts of a DVD during playback and edit video footage on the fly.
I don’t really need a portable unit, I might ebay my DVD-+RW for this unit, it’s only $300!
[quote author=“tifosiv122”][quote author=“dbs”]I’ve still got a 20% coupon I thought I’d try. Likely won’t work, but…
Is that from registering your vaio?
Erik
I’m not sure. I had two, on for the TR one for the T1. It just showed up in my mailbox a couple of weeks ago. I used one to pick up some cables for my T1, so this might be the Vaio coupon. I doubt it will work, but I’ll give it a shot.

Cool, let me know if it works, I have a few too that i’d love to use…not sure if it will work because technically it’s not a T1 or TR acc. but would be cool if it did.
