Well, I’m having trouble reading some DVD’s I burnt. I thought maybe a firmware update would be out there for that….

if you do, make sure you have a panasonic 745 instead of a 755. 

most Tr’s i know have the 755. 

and my TR also has a problem reading some burnt CDs/DVDs .  The discs that’ll play on my computer has to be of decent quality

if they are firmware updates by sony for your TR model then u can go ahead and install them but make sure you follow the instructions very carefully else the component whose firmware ur trying to upgrade might not work.

I agree with Rahul.  Sony put them out for a reason.  If there was no problem, why would Sony have distributed them? I always feel it is best to have the newest drivers/patches/etc. (Within reason.  I’m not getting the SP2 upgrade til the bug’s are worked out.  Stupid Microsoft, the things that they have “fixed” will take a decent hacker one day to learn to bypass and cause all the innocent software makers to have to fix every little stupid bug from the upgrade for months :evil: )
