[quote author=“TruthSeeker”]I haven’t burned a CD in a very long time. These little gadgets make it so easy to have vital information on my keychain at all times.
Don’t you archive things? Digital Pictures, Documents?

Hardly. I just keep duplicates of that stuff on more than one machine. I would think that would be both easier and more efficient. No?
I usually burn CD-Rs only when I need something to boot or when I give someone a mix disk (I also need to do it quite a bit at work). Of course I have to mention that when I do need to transport files, they usually end up on my iRiver. It’s USB2, so it’s bigger and faster than any flash memory device around.

Easier? Yes. More efficient? Yes/No. Its faster, but if something happens to your system everything is gone. Back-up with some external drive and/or to CD/DVD…at least your pics/docs/e-mails…

This is bizarre. I actually agree with Truthseeker on something. Must be late or something. I like saving files on external hard drives and servers, and I have an inherent distrust of burnt CD media.
Sorry, it was late…i missed the part when TS said more then one machine. Yes, I do the same…I have double copies of all files on 2 different servers…but I do archive all Pics/Doc onto DVD and put them in the vault every month…you can never be too careful.

I lost some important (to me) pics a while back and it’s a bummer. Downloaded from the camera and the drive glitched before I’d backed them up. I normally do the multiple drive thing and burn the real keepers.
I’ll often upload to Ofoto.com. Very convenient if you want to share some wedding, party etc. photos with friends and relatives. Let ‘em pick what they want. They store the images as uploaded so if the worst happens you can order CDs. I’ll go months without ordering and they’ve never zinged me. Nice too, for a lazy oaf like me… you can have them ship orders to folks like MOM, no- penalty brownie points.
