Hi,
As for the wireless problem, the AP that doesn’t work is b, and the one that works is g. I’ll play with the RTS/CTS settings. BTW these stand for Request To Send / Clear To Send, it’s a flow control mechanism by which the AP tells which wireless clients are allowed to transmit, effectively increasing throughput by minimising collisions.
A couple more impressions, this laptop is silent. And I mean really, even when playing a DVD, it’s way quieter than the Fujitsu, which had a very noisy fan that came on all too often. Even the hard drive is hardly noticeable, whereas the Fujitsu had a very loud clicking to it.
I have tried hibernation, and it’s also really fast, more useable than with older laptops. Since the Fujitsu had this fast suspend/resume, I never really bothered to check out hibernation, but it sure works good on the TR5.
Oh, one last thing, I noticed on the Sony support page there are all the drivers and utilities available for download, so I don’t think it’s necessary to pull them off the recovery media, or will I be missing The Crucial Driver which is nowhere else? Tomorrow I’m going to clean install XP Pro, with repartitioning and all.
Cheers,
Mother
