Hello everybody,

  While paying a visit to the local Sony Centre here in London to upgrade my memory, I’ve talked to one of the helpful chaps there and learned that the TR2MP is going on sale soon, starting week 8/2004. I
caught a sneaky glimpse at a PowerPoint slide and the specs will be:
1 GHz CPU, 40 gig HDD, 512MB RAM, basically the same as the US-spec
TR2 but *with* Bluetooth. MSRP will be around 1799 UKP and I would suspect that the prices for TR1MP’s will go through the floor as soon
as this machine starts selling…

I almost bought the TR1 in the US when it first came out…but I decided to wait until January. Luckily before then the TR2 came out. I would have been upset if I got the TR1 instead of 2. Even though I know the 3 is around the corner, I am happy with my 2.

The TR2MP has just been listed on a swiss website. (http://www.winshopper.ch)

Specs are: Sony / Vaio PCG-TR2MP P-MC/1 GHz, 512MB,60GB,10.6"TFT WXGA,Onyx,DVD/CD-RW, WLAN b/g, WXP Prof, Bluetooth.

Price is listed as 3419.- Sfr (inc. swiss Vat (7.6%) about £1500/$2700/2180 Euros.

Availability is 2 weeks (and probably rolling.. grin

Wow, if those specs are correct, then a 60GB 1.8” drive is out. Weird how the upcoming TR3 only has 40GB, but you never know with pre-release specs.
