[quote author=“gameson”]i m looking to buy CF card reader for the TR PCMCIA slot. can anyone recommend some good and fast transfer rate CF card reader?
Thanks
Why not get the all-in one PC Card reader? VGP-MCA10
hmm, from what i see, it doesn’t support Compact Flash card
it only supports Memory stick ®, Memory stick Pro™, MultiMediaCard, SecureDigital Media, SmartMedia.

Damn, your right, sorry, I thought it supported all the types…guess it helps to read the description.
If you just need CF, sandisk makes a cheap one…as does Kingston. I’ve had both with no issues. I also had the Lexar one that continually lost data and I would need to remove and replace it. (CF was my memory of choice for years).
[quote author=“gameson”]i would like one that has a fast data transfer. i don’t buy sandisk stuff, the quality is too cheap, or so that’s what i heard.
since u use CF, what’s ur #1 PC Card CF reader that u use?
I haven’t used CF in a while, but when I did it was the kingston and Sandisk readers…the lexar I threw out because of issues with it. My multireader is a PNY USB device.

i’ve been using the scandisk one for several months with no problems - its made of nice sturdy steel rather than some flimsy plastic ones i looked at, and its been very reliable
Just a quick one to look out for is one made by delkin.. Its cardbus 32 and very fast. I look at it more from a point of transfering photos from a cf card and thus with the delkin one its as fast if not faster than a usb 2 card reader, but it comes at a price of i think $45.
I am using a Lexar model that I pay £ 9 in UK.
It works ok for CF coming from my Canon Ixus 400.
But when I was looking for this pc card, I was really surprise about the price difference between shops, in fact at the first i found one at £35, which is really expensive for what is, but at £9 it was ok, for getting rid of all wire when travelling.
does TR have a CardBus compatibility PCMCIA slot? i might consider this, but i would like to know if TR has this compatibility so I don’t waste my money buying something that is not usable in TR or bottleneck.
thanks.
btw, is the speed achievable using any kind of card? or i have to use specific card? my CF card is Ritek Ridata 256 MB.
also I assume the delkin and aska speedover cf32a is the same, just different brand, right?
do i need to install driver for the card? or just plug n play?
