Just got installed bluespace3.3 ,wireless switcher and the bluetooth drivers but still can’t get it to work! I was able to discover my tr2 from my ux50 but not from the tr2. It keep saying the bluetooth power is off but the wireless swither icon is on. When i try to connect it does nothing. Went to device manager to check everything seem to be working properly? any suggestions? The samething is with float’s mobile agent. thanks

oops..never mind. forgot to install the vcomm drivers. got it to work now

is it normal that everytime you boot your computer the BT hardware is found all over again and the computer loads up drivers and stuff???

No, once its found it will work anytime you boot the PC and switch BT on.

Well, first of all, you really don’t need the Bluespace software unless you really like it for some reason.

One of the possibilities you can’t transfer files is that many BT-enabled Motorola phones don’t support OBEX and thus can’t transfer files anyways unless they get firmware updated somehow (assuming Moto supports it).

Do you have any system restore points saved? You may be able to revert back to when you started and start the process over again.

Windows XP SP2 uses BT differently than SP1 did and you will be using the native XP SP2 drivers with the BT device. (Sony’s drivers had a pre-SP2 MS BT patch included) I just popped my BT dongle into a virgin SP2 PC and it only came up as “Sony Bluetooth USB Adapter” and “Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator”.

The phone gr00vy is specifically talking about is the Motorola v710 sold on Verizon. They want you to transfer files over MMS over their network rather than for free over a span of a foot or so. :|

I don’t want you to think I am ignoring you but I am sorry I can’t help, I never did SP2 on the TR. I did just recently restore the TR and re-install the BT drivers, it went through without issue..as it asked for the drivers I pointed them. Installed BlueSpace and Wireless switcher…restarted TR and it worked. SP1.

The first things to double check:
If you weren’t logged on as a user with Administrator rights, try the procedure again with an account that does
If you have anti-virus software running disable it and retry the procedure
If you have a firewall installed on your PC make sure that the Bluetooth software has unrestricted access.

Windows didn’t find a driver for my device - Possible causes of this problem.
1. You have a “Microsoft Driver” Infection. Try manual driver install
3. Your device is faulty. Try the original driver that came with the device. If that fails then you need a new piece of hardware.

Manual driver install (It is possible that Windows installed another driver for you device such as the Microsoft driver)

Windows XP / 2003 forced manual driver installation
Open the system control panel, and in the “Hardware” tab, and click on “Device Manager”
Expand the “Bluetooth Radios” section of the device list
There might be a “Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator” and another device listed
Double click on the other device, and in the “driver” tab, click on “update driver”
Select “Install from a list or specific location”
Select “Don’t search, I will choose the driver to install”
Click on “Have disk”

sp2 seems to help a lot

i’d diver more into this, but my school installed sp2 for me and i’m still not familiar with everything.

linc: when I point the VCOMM driver install wizard to the MS folder, it returns and says, “This folder does not have the specified driver”.

I can only imagine that SP2 has its own set of drivers because when I click “NEXT” it installs the MS drivers and the devices will appear on the list just fine.

However upon rebooting, the devices disappear from the list and I’m back at square one without the virtual com port…

please advise.

May I suggest that since no one has had a problem using native WinXP SP2 Bluetooth support that you allow XP to find and install the module.

Once that’s done, go Control Panel, Bluetooth Devices. ADD and pair your phone.

Once the phone is paired. Goto CP, BD and highlight the phone, click Properties, Tab Services and tick the boxes for the available services, one of which will be the modem.

XP will then assign a virtual Com port to a new device labeled “Standard Modem over Bluetooth Link.”

That modem is available to to the New Connection Wizard for Dial-up network configuration.

If you wish, you can install the Bluespace Wireless Switch utility.

As far as I know Bluespace offers nothing that XP SP2 doesn’t and XP adds BT network support. (for what that may be worth)

By installing Bluespace you’re telling Windows, go away, I’ll handle it with my own bluetooth manager.

Why don’t you just try native XP SP2 support? If you really don’t like it, you can always go back to banging your head on the wall.

I doubt you’ll find anyone here who has bothered to try installing the VCOMM drivers or Bluespace. They’re just a layer of unneeded software under SP2.

i agree. just give sp2 a try.. what have you got to lose?

sounds good guys… but I don’t know why I don’t have Bluetooth Devices under my Control Panel??? LOL the blue light is on and I installed Wireless Switch (NO VCOMM and NO BLUESPACE).
