I was wondering what you guys think the life span of the TR is….With the new 64 bit technology, longhorn and other apps up and coming….

How long can these last….I really love my TR and want to know how long a notebook can last….Some of you have a lot more experience than me…>It scares me when some of you are changing your notebooks less than a year…

I am aware that computers outdate quicker than most items…But, that seems a little rediculous…..

Really comes down to what you want your notebook for.

Prior to my TR I had a Libretto 110CT PemtiumMMX 233MHz upgraded to 64MB RAM max. the 4GB HDD updated to a 40GB. (2MB Graphics card ) with dual boot of Win98SE & Win2k. I had it since 1997 or 1999 (Can’t remember now).

Did everything I wanted really (except games) but wanted a faster machine that could easily handle WinXP and Multimedia stuff better.

So this should last me 4-5 years if it doesn’t break. Like new technology but don’t have endless pockets full of money so I choose carefully when I buy.

I did buy a brand new Picturebook C1-MHP in 2003 via ebay prior to the TR for £900 but didn’t like it. Battery too low powered & screen format just too wide. I managed to sell it a week latter for £1350 though which helped me buy my TR :D which I also managed to get VAT free!

Yeah, your TR will most likely last you as long as it’s useful to you.

don’t worry… laptop value doesn’t drop as fast as PC’s.  Unless word processing and webbrowsing requires 64-bit, i won’t be upgrading for a while. It took me a while before i understood why Intel took so long to get into the 64 bit world.  and it makes sense.  why create a 64 bit processor when it’s not the bottle neck?

I dunno about you, but basically, as long as hot women keep saying “ooo your laptop is soooo cute!!!” and come up to talk to me about it, I’m keeping this thing.  8)  But humor aside, it’s pretty fast, and basically, if you’re looking for gaming/rendering, a laptop’s not for you.  But it does its job rather excellently, so I think it’ll be around for awhile.

I think the TR will hold value. IMO it will be a while before anything markedly thinner, lighter and faster, with the same or more integration, comes along. With the advent of the T series, even the silly little camera should earn it a premium niche in the used market.

Personally I bought the TR as a second machine, something that could handle 90% of what I do on a computer and 99% of what I might realistically want to do on the road. I don’t see that changing for a few years.

Thats good to hear….I just got worried with some memebers going out and buying different notebooks, like the S or the x505.

I personally still like my TR better…..And as for the T….It doesn’t have anything the TR doesn’t have…

Traditionally I would like the TR to last me atleast a couple of years….

I also think its funny with the T series marketing its multimedia buttons…..to be a
selling/marketing point.

At the first time I took all my stickers off my TR I thought the TR didn’t look like a notebook, but something more before its time…

Also like it could serve as a multimedia 10.6” little hometheather….

I don’t know about you guys…but I don’t have a plasma or gigantic lcd screen at home…

And if I am alone its nice to watch movies on the TR with some decent headphones..  Now I have been watching dvd movies while I work and right now as we speak…

I think with the glossy liner makes it look like a plasma effect…

And compared to my HDTV at home….It plays some decent quality….I actually enjoy watching movies on this more…..

The sound is insane…..Just insane….I love kicking in a coffee shop and surfing the web as I watch Kill Bill and watch president bush make a idiot of himself in the polictical debate…

J/k on the debate its being tivo’ed….and my wife told me about Bush being the idiot on the debate…But, when have we ever seen him do well with public speaking…
