It may sound as a strange question, but one of the main reasons I got a Fujitsu P5010D just over a year ago (just had it stolen) was that going into suspend and back took literally one second. Maybe two sometimes.
I am now balancing the TR5 against the P7010, and so far in features the Fujitsu is winning (easier to fit larger HD, more standard card ports, swapping DVD for 2nd battery…), but it could take over a month to get. I can have the TR5 tomorrow.
So, the last deciding factor will also be the suspend / resume times. On my old Toshiba they were horrible, it could take up to 30 seconds to go. What are these times like in the TR5? This is important for me as I start and stop working with the laptop quite a few times during the day, and this feature in the Fujitsu was a life & battery saver.

Cheers all
I use hibernation. My TR2a (1GB ram) took about 30 seconds each way. I do think, however, it depends on what applications are open at the time.
Its not instant by any means, but under 1 min. is acceptable IMO.
Not sure about Standby…which should be quicker…but this will give you a bit of a rough idea.
I have just timed my standby time on my TR2MP, it is literally 1 second or the most 2 seconds. When coming back from suspend, it would take a just little bit longer which are between 2 to 4 seconds. My machine have 1GB of RAM and I don’t know whether the amount of RAM would affect the time or not…
I do set my TR to standby mode quite frequently during my working day, normally I just set it to go in standby/suspend mode when I close the lid. If I know I won’t use it for longer time, I will choose to go in hibernate mode. Anyway, standby mode doesn’t usually use up significant battery power.
I hope this remove your worrying factor to purchase the lovely TR! 8)
....to find out more about the p-series….I think its up to you in what features you need…..The one thing that is real big that could be your last decision…
Is the TR only comes in white
The U.S. p-series comes in black….You can get it from different countries in silver….but there are a lot of draw backs…And you won’t be getting it in one day…
Thanks for the many replies, they have been really informative, and cleared up the doubt. It was mainly because until the Fujitsu, I always bought Toshiba, and those had horrible suspend/resume times. It was almost not worth the battery it used up. I just wasn’t sure if this was a feature of Fujitsu, or other/all laptops nowadays had cured this.
As for features, I’ve been reading up and checking the leog.net forums, it seems the Fujitsu can be configured with higher features for less price, but I am also on a time issue, I cannot wait over a month for one.
The TR5 with extra 512MB of RAM, extended battery and 3-year warranty extension is going to set me back some $3700, against some $2800 for the Fujitsu with some higher specs like the 5400 rpm 80 GB hard drive.

Yes, I’ve personally ordered from them so they’re decent and can a person save some money. They do ship a little slow sometimes since they have to order the part. Still, if you’re not in a hurry then it’s worth it.
