this may sound a little bit strange.

Yesterday I reinstalled my office laptop with win2k SP4 and all pre-SP5 updates.

From that moment on,  and although I did not change anything on my linksys firewall switch settings, i can not commynicate outside via internet on any port as far as the ones i need.  I have internet and email only !

EG. I need 999X for remote administration and 71XX for emule and etc.

Before the reinstallation everything worked smoothly.

Any suggestions? How do i open ports in win2k?

I think you need to get into you router and open up the ports…

Firmware thingy…I forgot what its called…But I had a same type of problem…If you call the router tech support they should be able to help you.

i already did that and double checked that the port are forwarded to my specific computer IP and that they are enabled.

THere is something wrong with the software.  I use nod32 for antivirus but i doubt is has to do anything with it.  No other software firewall is installed.

In the advanced options of the NIC properites, in the advanced tab check TCP/IP filtering. My only other shot in the dark is to see if you can upgrade the NIC driver.

it was wrong IP port forwading on the router…

i was use to 192.XX.XX.5 and i did not set it after reintallation..
