This is a fact and i disagree with your comments :D The thing is most big companies are realizing the value of this ” cheap asian labour ” as you so put it, the cost of production there is so cheap that the cushion of profit these companies enjoy by making these cars in say whereever they are made in italy, is increased by a few folds straight away. So cars get cheaper and they still reap profits. Plus whatever happens to the cost of buying a ferrari, you and me both agree we wouldnt ever say a no to it, if its possible to afford one
But Ferrari is NOT a normal company which makes every-day items for everyone. Ferrari has a very small user base - those who can afford. And those who can afford don’t want that their Ferrari will be manufactured in Asia.
Ferrari sells luxury cars for vey luxury prices - they make a ton of money by selling those cars to those lucky few who can buy them. If they would start manufacturing it in Asia, the customers would say “So, now Ferrari thinks they need to hire cheap work and then maybe use cheap parts? Well, not with me, buddy, I’m going for a Lamborghini [or any other luxury car]” - they would not benefit with a single cent from the outsourcing. Far from it! They would actually lose money!
High Luxury items like Ferrari cars, private jets and other goodies don’t work like “normal” items. You’re not calculating with a large user base and small margins of profit, you’re calculating with a very small but very exclusive user base of which almost every individual customer will give you quite a good profit. Those customers want a perfect item, a perfect service and, also very important, tradition. Outsourcing makes them suspicious (or just makes them think some style value is lost).
Note that it may be possible that specific parts may be manufactured in Asia, I’m pretty certain that there actually already are parts of a Ferrari which were manufactured there. But those are just insignificant parts (like, not the motor) and the manufacturing of the car itself must not take part in a country far away from where the tradition resides.
Remember that each Ferrari is manufactured individually!
For the same reason Porsche produces all 911s and Boxster which are supposed to be sold in the german market in Germany. There are production facilities in Finnland and some other countries, but the cars coming from them are only to be exported.
It’s tradition. If you start to change this tradition, you head straight into mainstream - and mainstream is boring and without style.
