All US and Asian version of TR don’t have bt, while top japanese models like TR5B and EU models do(there is no customisation on sony european site for TR, so only top models are available, on the other hand, japanese customers can use sony style japan to customize their TR for cpu, ram, os, keyboard, and even bt, plus they get 1/2 price for trade-in their past TR model in exchange for newer models.
I once get told by a sony insider that they also have market segmentations as all companies do, while japan domestic market is definitely class A market which always get the best from sony, US and EU markets are class B market, they either get slightly tuned down version(US version) or full featured version(EU version albeit more expensive), either way, foreign markets are bond to pay an extended premium because the consuming power in these markets are rather high that they are willing to pay more (at least that’s what the insider told me, although I certainly disagree the logic.)
there are also Class C market-rest of the sony’s coverage, including rest of asia, both south and north american(outside US), Oceania. where the top configuration is still a much tuned down, but prices maintain the same as equivalent japanese top models. for example, all hong kong and chinese top model of TR5 don’t have DVD-RW, BT, and only have 768mb of ram and Wlan b/g (shame they call it TR5  ).
Really fustrating policy, however, what typically unfair is that the price of EU models are the highest, for example: Japanese full featured TR5B (DVD-RW, bt, wlan a/b/g, 1G ram) sells for 225000 yen, equivalent of 2200 Euro, while in european market the same configuration cost 2999 euro (Fnac and Surcouf price)
