much better than TR, even has fingerprint device to make it even more secure.  the only drawback is that u need dongle to VGA out, but it has S video out. will this notebook out in USA anytime soon?

EDIT: i believe USDM is P7000.  i did not know that, i guess i have to research the market more before i buy my next laptop.  i will trade TR camera with built in finger sensor anytime anyday.  unfortunately after i customize it at fujitsu, it comes out more $$$ than TR.

If your serious about security this is not a very good fingerprint scanner. This is the kind that uses a beam to grab the print - you want one that grabs the full print, a polymer-based sensor.

Besides that, I don’t see how this is remotely better to the TR.

it has CF slot as well.  the only other drawback besides VGA dongle is no bluetooth as i m hooked to bluetooth.  i only use it for mouse/keyboard, but since i bought logitech BT combo, so it comes with the BT port.  i think i can live without BT.

So its a CF Slot & VGA Out vs 1 GB Ram and BT?

I thought about the same thing just a few days ago.  The fingerprint thing to me is as much of a gimic is the camera that we have.  Except I use my camera

I seen them preconfigured at New egg pretty cheap with a 60 gig harddrive.

If you want the same form factor as the TR in the color black this is a great alterative. 

The one think that does suck, is that there is no Bluetooth :evil:  That what keeps me away.  Also I like the color white I have, as it is very unique looking.

ALso our short cut keys for volume, I use and the magnify once in awhile is nice for a 10.6” screen.

I actually like the design of the P-series more than the new sony T-series…..

But, atleast the T-series comes with Bluetooth.

If I was you I would hold off until they get a new chipset and make Bluetooth standard on these. 

I have a dongle Bluetooth and I am already getting tired of it…..THinking about doing the internal upgrade….

It is a nice looking machine and if you didn’t already have a TR it would be a good competior.  But, for us to sell our TR’s, and purchase it, I don’t think its worth it….I think others here will agree…..

I think I would just take the T-series even that I am not too found of the design of the battery for the Bluetooth. 

But, I won’t upgrade from my TR since its not offering anything we don’t already have.

this one has 1 GB RAM as well, if u look at pricing, u will see.  i guess dynamism makes an error for the spec. USDM P7000 offers 1 GB RAM as well.  the memory config is just like TR, 2 empty slots.

hehehe, i told u earlier in your targus mouse review.  better off with internal BT and macally mouse.  now with targus mouse, not only u stuck with USB BT dongle, but u also pay $30 - $40 more than macally mouse IF you decide to go internal BT and possibly overall mouse quality as everybody knows, targus only makes case.

Go ahead and tell me “I told you so”  But right now I am enjoying having my bluetooth mouse and technology. 

I am not really concerned with it…I could just return it…..

But, right now I am very busy with obtaining a new job and moving.

With all these upgrades and money us as memebers spend….this amount of money will not hurt my piggy bank.

I still like the mouse…..You can’t say that you don’t like it if you haven’t tried it.

BTW- I think I have about 5-6 mice.  I like change…..

I have a mx700 on my desktop that I enjoy very much.

I’ve tried smaller mice like the maclley and didn’t like them….But, I am sure I’ll end up getting one in the end.

I wish they made one that matched the TR better….

You know what else.  I was wondering the other day why I bought the BT Targus Mouse and it was because one day I was using a usb sony optical with a long xtra long wire.

But, in reality I don’t use external mice.  When I do this upgrade, I will probably have the same thoughts of Erik that I really don’t need

it…  

I really just want the bluelight and the cover that says bluetooth is this just me

I just checked this one out in Asia this week. The fingerprint thing seems like a gimmic, plus a bit flimsy to me. Otherwise, the notebook looks ok at first glance.

Best alternative I have seen yet BUT!

It doesn’t improve on the Graphics power (would want a mobile Radeon to replace my TR) and though very nice it still doesn’t have that “jaw dropping” good looks of the TR.

I still think the TR is the best looking notebook I have ever seen combined with all the essentials you would want (excluding TV out, really should have had one :( )

Also lower standard battery time.

Would think the very shiny top would show marks easily.

don’t forget interl Bluetooth…..But, atleast we can do it ourselves….

Our UK spec has BT built-in anyway :mrgreen:
