I am going to buy a type S, but the model sold in Mexico has no Bluetooth and a 40GB HD, I saw in the forums how to replace the 40GB for a fast 80GB.

Is the internal bluetooth a chip like in the TR series or I have to replace the WiFi card with one with bluetooth? Also, if anyone knows the part numbers for the bluetooth and the faceplate with the BT logo and light.

Any help will be appreciated.

this socket(on the s) looks similar to the one where the bt module goes on my tr..

The socket looks identical to the one in my TR, if someone opens their machine, please confirm if that is where BT Chip goes and the ALPS part No. on the chip to check if it the same as in the TR.

Not yet, I have not received the parts , as soon as I get it done I will post pics and a guide how to do it, I still need the part number for the bezel. the parts as far as I know are (I will confirm after upgrade):

Bluetooth module, 2nd rev (1-234-803-22)
Cable, Coaxial with u.fl con (1-827-266-21)
Cable, BT Antenna (A1058407A)

So, I can see where the bluetooth module goes, but where does the other end of the antenna hook up?.... Looks like its under the cd drive to the left?....

Opened up my UK spec S1XP and took a fair few photos inside.

Err you know the wireless card in the S Series is right next to the ram slots right? Its a very simple procedure, unlike the TR series (although that wasn’t exactly hard with Gr00vy’s guide!)

I haven’t opened it up myself up yet, but it’s good to know things are so easy to access. I had an old Apple PowerBook G3 that was even easier- just pull two latches and open the keyboard to get access to the hard drive, modem, and RAM slots.

I have a S360 and was thinking about doing this upgrade that Sean Brown had made the writeup for.

Ok, I was reading on the now defunked notebookforums.com that somebody used a Dell 9300 BT module…that thing is less than $20 bucks. I am trying to figure out if all the BT modules are the same?

This not the module…this is the ANT package?

Is the little thing in the top of the picture the ant leads too…is that the BT module?
