Thats pretty kewl.  I didn’t know that.  I will start buying my games there….   I know that Game Stop used to do that until awhile back for some reason.

Walmart also takes back games without a receipt (sealed) for credit…a lot of people buy close-out games for $9.99 and return them to Walmart for $39-49.

Because they re-seal and sell as new. I’ve bought some games from them that were 2 CD games…I open the box, only one is in there…

It was sold as new too…

I have it on good authority that Best Buy does the same thing with returned electronics. They just use the shrink wrap machine in the back to reseal and sell as new.

If my memory is correct I remeber a game stop employee telling me they could take back opened games because they got sued by a mom of a kid.

What happened he purchased it as new and opened it up and it didn’t work.  The mom checked out the DVD and found ungodly amount of scrathes on it.

So she he had a lawyer investegate and find out that they where shrink wraping games that were returned….

ANyway that what the store employee said and thats why the policy changed.

I wish I had a shrink wrap machine.

Not the exact story, but similar results:

The Complaint alleges that the Defendants sold software designed to be played on the Dreamcast, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Game Cube, Genesis, Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Playstation, Playstation 2, Super Nintendo, X Box, Sega CD, Sega Saturn, Sega Game Gear, 3DO and NeoGeo video game consoles (“Software for Video Game Consoles”) as if it were new when such software may have been purchased and returned by consumers under the Defendants’ return policies. The Complaint alleges the Defendants’ sale of this software resulted in violations of common law and statutory prohibitions against actual and constructive fraud and/or intentional deceit, misrepresentation, false advertising, unfair and deceptive trade practices, and violations of consumers’ legal remedies acts.

Wow-  That was quick Erik I new that there was some type of Lawsuit going on. 

I was just looking though remembering the good ol’ days with sega cd….saturn…genuis….n64….nes….and so on…>>I grew up on these consoles

I had it bookmarked…I always follow Computer Lawsuits carefully…actually, it was kinda funny, in class last week we studied CompuServe v. Cyber Promotions…anyway, I got called on and grilled (its the Socratic method), not only was I able to answer all questions, but I was able to give background info on CompuServe and why (technically) they were suing…my prof. was really impressed…
