[quote author=“Chris687”]So….Erik….since you have a bid….is it a sure thing that you are going to go ahead with the x505 purchase?
Nothing is 100% sure until I get the money. I have several offers that are around $100 less, so even if this falls through, I think it’s sold. I dont want to order the x505 until I actually get the money, you never know, and i don’t want to float $3,000 with another $3,000 notebook ready to go…
I had a look at it, in a shop in UK. It seems really light and powerful.
But I’m not sure I will be able to work a whole day on it. It doesn’t seems to be really comfortbale. I don’t know if it comes, with a dock, but i think it will be something mandatory for long time work on it, to have a big screen, a real keyboard and mouse. At the end, I really never get used to small mouse point, I really much prefer touchpad.
I think tifosi you must rather have a look to it in person to make you a point of view about it before placing order. Because it is not a really common machine, typical machine that some people may love and some other hate.
Personally, while I know tifosiv must be anxious to receive his X505 :o I’ve been having mixed thoughts about getting mine lately. I’ve decided that if I do get one, I’m going to have to have my TR by my side, or else I may just frivel and die being forced to use the computers at Bailey Hall if I don’t cope well with the X505. I received a comment at Biology class last Friday about how small my TR is. Of course, I’m planning to do some Biological Undergrad research with Dr. Duina next sem, observing the SPT16 protein, so I would think a small laptop that’s complete with everything without needing to carry additional accessories may be mandatory if not convenient.
And I’ve realized lately that my TR isn’t really that heavy. Fragile and thick, but not that heavy. I hope tifosiv likes his new X505 “toy” when he receives it!
I heard the pure CF version was flammable? And that’s why it was banned in Germany to comply with standards? I don’t know, just something I read.

-best, Concura
One of those exploding eBay batteries would make a nice add-on.

[quote author=“Drachen”][quote author=“Rahul”]ok say some uses my visa card and buys something worth 1000 bucks from newegg. I find out a few days later and call up newegg and newegg issues me a credit for 1000 bucks. Someone would definitely make a $1000 loss here…Visa or newegg and I’m sure they would want to trace the frauds…wouldn’t they?...it’s a decent sum of money afterall.
Something similar just happened to me last month. I tried buying something and the card was declined. I thought this odd since I basically don’t keep a balance month-to-month on that card. I got a statement the next day (seredipitously) and saw a bunch of charges to mexican and spanish companies that I knew I didn’t make. I called the credit card company and they issued me a new one and reversed the charges. I had to sign a pair of affidavits and mail them back to the company.
Don’t call newegg about the fraud. Call the credit card company. They are the ones that actually deal with it.

Duly noted. Ignored, but noted nonetheless.
Drachen… instead of sounding anal and uptight. Why don’t you just try-out… “Yea sorry… my attempts to be the smartest know-it-all in the world sometimes get the better of me… Sorry Chris”
Ignore him Chris…
[quote author=“tifosiv122”]‘Till the minute I open my CF (nickel ignored) x505…
I finally went to Fry’s and I have to say I was really impressed with the x505. I like the “nipple” and the keyboard a lot but I have to go with gr00vy… the screen, :x . It needs xBrite!!! It has some great design but it just seems soooo under-powered… Do you plan on using another laptop/desktop for your main, at-home, computer? (I have seen your website but just wondering if you still have all those since you moved) I don’t see how this could have the power to be your one main computer… the hard drive, processor, ram expandibilty.
Did you consider just selling the TR, and getting a nice Clie with keyboard/Fujitsu P1000 (either of which you can get for under $1200) and then using the difference of the sale to but a nice S for your, “desktop” needs. I’m not questioning your decision just voicing what I probably would have done…
Since it sounded like you pretty much want the x505 cause your computing needs aren’t that demanding just for typing up things at school and taking notes… something simple like this would save you $2000 and… almost ONE WHOLE POUND ( )...
Then you could afford the T, TR, or S for your desktop… (or whatever other laptop you like…
