I think they only provided links to some hardware manufacturers support/update site.

the forums in jon’s website is also unavailable.  do you know the step by step procedure that he outlined there before on installling the widcomm driver stack?

Sorry, I don’t. It looks like Broadcom, after acquiring Widcom, got anal about Jon’s bluetooth guide and forum.

I’ve never seen a bigger bunch of a-holes shooting themselves in the foot. Ericsson invents BT and Sony-Ericsson has the lousiest implementation. Widcom locks itself to a manufacturer code when most everything is using the same chip. Microsoft finally, kinda, supports it in XP SP2 with gaping holes in supported profiles.

I really like BT, I like the idea of BT, but it’s almost like they want it to fail.

BTW, have you tried native XP SP2?  It handles everything but my headset and seems to offer most other profiles.

if companies want BT to fail, why does broadcom buy widcom in the first place?  it’s like buying a lost investment.  i don’t think they want to spend hundred M’s or B’s just to make BT dissapear…

I don’t *really* think they want it to fail, gameson. I do think they are all so busy playing little proprietary games that they’ve made a mess of it.

Found this Headset profile driver if anyone is interested. I’ve got an email into their support to see what they say about using it with XP SP2.
