It will be more interesting if they actually get any design wins. ATI is pretty strong in this arena already. Also, Nvidia doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to low power GPU for the mobile sector. ATI’s mobile GPU consumption is noticeably better than anything Nvidia has out right now.
The 855 chipset includes integrated graphics and is not a discrete graphics solution. There is no “video card” part in the TR. The main northbridge chipset houses the video logic.
Perhaps…I don’t like the idea especially for specialized smaller notebooks. Making designs upgradeable may make designs less unique and cutting edge if they have too many upgradeable parts. Also, a lot of these systems are tuned to run on certain hardware. If you can change too many parts out then you may lose functionality, performance, battery life, etc.
For instance, there’s almost no way the X505 could be as slim as it is if they made parts upgradeable…

True- I completely agree. I just thought it would be fun if I could have my TR run a nvidia 6800 or ati 800. But, we all know thats not going to happen right now.
ANd with technology changing everyday who knows what will happen next.
Actually no…you don’t wish your TR could run a next generation video chipset…
What you really wish for is a TRUE next generation TR that has all the features that we have come to love in addition to a next generation video chipset weighing in at only 2.5 lbs…with extended battery!

No, call me nuts but ive never had a need to run games on a notebook…besides the card games…and lucas arts ‘laptop adventures’ or ‘desktop adventures’ whatever it was called, I liked those…
If I want to play a game I want it on a decent screen…console or desktop…i’m not big into the GBA stuff either…and my PDA games are usually Bejeweled type…
