For me, the X505 is just style, style, style. Oh, did I mention that it’s pure style?

Well… but basically, that’s it. It’s a “lookatme!” and nothing more. The reason I’m going with the TR5 ist because it has a lot of technical value with it, while the X505 is just ultralight style.

Nothing besides its look and feel of this notebook appeals to me. So I really would like to have that thing on my couch table, as part of the furniture, as a style accessoire for my living room. But working with it? No.

I must say that when I saw the X505 for real on a store shelf (in Japan) about a year ago, it stopped me in my tracks.  I had to pick it up and play with it.  It was EXTREMELY impressive for what it is.  For me, it would not be an adequate replacement for my TR3.  I need more flexibility in a compact unit (optical drive/wifi/BT/...xbrite).  I can definitely see where the X505 would work for a lot of people.  I wish I had a need (excuse) to get one, but for now my TR is the best option for me and I am still enamored with it.

That’s totally what I think. I also wish I just had an excuse to buy one… I won’t buy a 3000EUR notebook just because it looks impressive.

Go to Cnet.com and look up the x505, they have a video which puts the x505 in perspective.  It’s an impressive laptop, but they kind of diss the computer too.
