When I was looking to purchase my TR I had thought about purchasing it direct from Sony to get their extended warranty. The problem was SonyStyle was $300 or so more expensive then CompUSA plus they offered a $100 gift card as well, so in effect I think it was $400 less.
Long story short, I called Sony and asked if there was a way I could purchase an extended warranty through Sony if I bought at an authorized reseller…they said no.
I decided to purchase one through CompUSA because the price of the TR was just too good to pass up. So, what do I get in the mail today?
“Your warranty on your Sony Vaio is about to expire, you can renew it for up to three years directly from Sony…for only $350 for three years, payable at $115 a year.”
Grr…this really upsets me.
Anyway, i’ve decided to dump the TR on ebay and see what I get…if it sells well, x505 is on its way, if it doesnt…I will keep the TR. At least I can offer the new buyer the extended warranty from Sony, thats a selling point I think. Anyone want a maxed out TR?
It might be a new thing, Eric. Just a month or so ago I talked to a Sony support guy who told me the extended warantees were handled by an authorized outside company. I was following the threads here and made a few phone calls. One company only offered warantee extension. I think Sony had changed to a different company that also offered the accidental damage. Information on that coverage was available from a Sony site, but you could only purchase it from a dealer. When I got the packet it was clearly an authorized Sony warantee.
Camera/Webcam works perfectly - great for videoconference’s!
What exactly is it that belongs to videoconference?
I don’t understand your question, sorry. If you want to help explain it to me i’d be happy to reply.
Erik
lol sorry it’s early and I’m just being picky grammar wise, apostrophes really get to me!
An ‘s is used to say that something belongs to something eg. the cat’s basket—> the basket belonging to the cat.
So I was just asking what belonged to videoconference…. lame I know!
Well now the moment has passed I think we should just move and leave well alone
