for this user, SP2 added more process, used a little more memory, and increased boot/shutdown times a bit.  But then i removed zonealarm and i think it’s a wash. and i am really fussy about this to the point of using a stopwatch.  for u who see a drastic decrease, perhaps disable the firewall in the security center and see if that’s the culprit. 

as for articles on the internet, i dont think u can trust them as most folks hate microsoft, kinda like they hate/fear Kerry.  :drool:
