guys i just got a brand new tr5
i hooked up a wireless network in my house but ih ave a problem
my wifi only works when my ac adaptor is plugged in it seems like?!!? what’s up with that..
i mean when it’s not plugged in it still fully picks up the signa and everything and it shows it being connected but when u go to open a web page it takes years to open anyting…but as soon as i plug it back in it works at lightning speeds?!?! does anyone know what could be the problem or has anyone experienced this..do u thikn whne the battery charge is low it works slower or something?!?! it seems like it dones’t want to open anyting at all..i know it’s not a problemw ith the signal cuz it’s picking it up and saying that it is excellent but it only wants to open web pages when it’s plugged in!!! i’m gonna try and fully charge it and see if that does anytyhing…but please give me some advice this is driving me insane!!!!

I heard with the type s something like that was happening, but in reverse.  I would let it charge for the night and try it in the moring.

make sure the power save mode is off.

Hey linc, i tried that but still no luck…its weird cuz the net works still..sometimes when it is unplugged but REALLY REALLY SLOW and usually not at all i can’t figure it out…but as soon as i plug in the ac there it goes working fine!!  i would hate to think that there is omething wrong with my wifi but if there was and i got a usb wireless dongle that would work wouldn’t it? i mean just cuz my built in wifi might have a problem it shouldn’t effect anything if i install a wireless lan card or wirelss usb right?
god i dont want to think about doing that i want the built in to work!!!

I had the same problem with my tr2a when I first got it.  I tried a million and one things while attempting to get it to to work.  I was just wondering what type of wireless router you were using?

I’m gonna go on a hunch and guess that you have a netgear wireless router (perhaps even the wireless b router)??  If so, my difficulties were solved when I upgraded the firmware on the router.  Not only did this simple task solve my problem, but it also improved the range and signal strength of my connection.  I hope this helps, good luck.

i’m using a us robotics router with b/g both ...and it’s model number 8022… i havne’t installed the driver cd cuz it’ s directly hooked up with my modem and then a hot spot is created in my bedroom..so shoudl i try installing the driver cd ? id idn’t think it was neccessary to do that…if i wna’st networking with another computer?
ok let me try that out

by the way where woudl i be able to upgrade the firmware from?

hey i just checked the driver cd and it only has a driver on there for the wireless printer hook up the rest of it is supposed to be just ‘plug and play’ with windows xp and 98 etc…so what do u think i should do?  i’m soo pissed!!! :evil:

dude i just downloaded the upgrade of the firmware for my router and its working now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111 i’m soooo f’ing happy whooohoooo….but my battery is also charged fully at 100 percen but i have unplugged it so i hope it’s not just becasue the battery is full that it’s workign i’ll let u know in half an hour when the battery drains some if it’s still working but i can swear that the quality of the connection seems 5 times better!!!! your da man!!!! :mrgreen:

I hope all is still going well for you.  I know how crappy it feels to bring home a new (and quite costly)  computer just to find out that it’s not working up to the standards that you thought it would.  It took me quite a long time to figure out that it wasn’t the TR (and i’m so glad it wasn’t), so I’m only happy to prevent others from wasting as much time as I did.  Good luck with the TR, it’s the best and enjoy your newly found wireless freedom.
