This has been discussed several times on this forum, I, for one, am very against it seeing how poorly tablets are today. They have potential, its just bad implimentation as of now.
All the weight and bulk of a laptop with all the expense of a tablet… in addition to requiring a swivel hinge. It’s the worst of all worlds - sort of like wanting to have a diet, caffeine-free Mt Dew or a decaf latte with skim. Why bother?

actually the notebook i had before my S170 is the HP TC1000. it’s a fusion between convertible and pure slate forms. it has a detachable keyboard which i really love because i can use it as a slate when i don’t need the keyboard, and at times i would need the keyboard too so i got the good of both worlds.
the only coomplain about the tc1000 is the short battery life and way underpowered. i mostly used it to take school notes, but the problem was the battery couldn’t even last a day (i had lecture from like 10 to 3, which is ~5 hrs) and i hate having to plug to the main in class because i don’t usually get to sit around one. so i finally sold my tablet and bought a S170 a week ago. i may buy another tablet only if it is also in this form factor (detachable keyboard), and better battery life and more power.
(now i miss how convenient it is to be able to draw graphs and diagrams using tablet)
Interesting. I’m looking at my TR trying to figure out how much of what’s under the keyboard would have to be relocated behind the LCD and what could or should remain there. Then there’s the battery problem.
How about just adding touchscreen capability to a laptop? It wouldn’t be a notepad, but you could draw with the stylus and perhaps add functionality to other applications.
Since I’m happy with my TR, I think I’ll leave this discussion to others and go to bed.
