It’s kind of funny how “the Harvard of the South” ( as we are proudly referred to, with pride ) is now just getting WiFi installed on our campus. They just installed Wireless G this week! My college’s IT department has been busy this year, despite the numerous problems/frustrations they’ve been encountering ( a rough start ).

With this addition, I think I’m going to trade in for an X505. My TR is pretty much my desktop replacement now and that’s not really what I need. I’m too afraid to scratch the case, and I’m just now overwhelmed with the thinness of the X505! I just need one!!

i wish i had that kind of resource to pull a $3000 laptop to school when i was a student…. talk about today’s student. i will be fortunate enough to pull out a TR to school, not many students, even nowadays, can pull out TR, let alone X505.  most i have seen are those thick DELL.  but i guess it’s all depends on which school you go to.  i went to state school, so it’s probably a totatly different scene compare to if you go to private school ie. harvard, duke, or those ivy league schools.  to see X505 is probably normal in ivy league schools compare to state schools, it’s like seeing ferrari in middle class neighborhood compare to seeing ferrari in beverly hills, for example

Yes, I worked near a college town with little rich kids driving bmw m3 2004’s on aftermarket rims and exhaust. 

It blows me away how much parents will spend or give to there children.

I seen some Foriegn Students come over and there parents will flow them over 20k a month….

I know what ya’ll mean. I go to Hendrix College, and yes, it is a private school, very reputed. Most of the kids here are rich kids, but they’re all very friendly. My class, the Class of 2007, consists of about 270 individuals, which represents 1/3 of all applicants accepted. In fact, we were one of three institutions selected by MTV to hold their “MTV’s Rock the Vote!” tomorrow starting at Noon!  8)

I actually financed my TR3A on my own, and yeah, I bought it used ( there’s no way I’m getting new for the price Sony wants ). Since I have a VERY heavy schedule, I’m almost ALWAYS on the move. I’m double-majoring in Physics/Biology so I’m taking 5 courses instead of 4 this sem, I’m a Resident Assistant ( so, yes, I do technically have a job on-campus and work to finance my “style” and school/books ), and I’m part of the Student Senate ( Sophomore Class Rep! We’ve just updated our website:   ).

Well, time to ROCK THE VOTE! fellas! I might try to take some pics .... with my TR ( while I still have it ).

to tell u the truth, i never heard of hendrix college.  i checked usnews.com for college ranking and it’s not even there…  maybe i need to be educated again for colleges

when i heard harvard of the south, first thing that comes to my mind is duke in north carolina….

I’m sure a lot of people would overlook my college when they found out tuition is $23k a year. And that doesn’t include text-books and additional expenses. We’re just .... oh, you know ..... one of those small liberal arts schools.

It gets crazy on the weekends. Martin Hall is the place to party, which is just next door ( they say if you live in first floor Martin, you’ve pretty much “given up your sleeping rights”—it’s the oldest dorm on-campus, and one of the nicest, craziest—it looks kind of “gothic” from the outside. The rest of the dorms on-campus look colonial ).

I hope your a cool RA, the mean ones suck!

lol, I try to stay cool. I haven’t wrote a single Communication Report yet. Other RAs around have been writing their 3rd ones already.   My residences are angels.

There was a protest against us though. It was huge!!! During the Senate meeting, over 150 students came to protest against the strict enforcement by RAs, Public Safety, and the Welcome Week committee that happened during Shirttails ( “Shirttails”, Hendrix tradition—started a LONG LONG time ago when Hendrix Freshers cerenaded the Freshman women by dressing in shirttails and boxers and sang to them at their windows—now, it’s a school-sponsored event where freshers from each hall compete—Martin and Hardin have vigorous competition, and when I was a Fresher, I participated—we won the Spirit award, but we lost the main award ).

Oh, about the joke regarding the fountain—another Hendrix tradition. When it’s someone’s birthday on-campus, everyone will know ( word of mouth ). And, yes, if you were a student here, you would most likely be thrown into the fountain. I was thrown in last year—my birthday is in the cold month of February. Try getting plunged into cold COLD FREEZING water on a COLD February night!!!! My friends ambushed me, grabbed my legs and my arms, and carried me all the way out there, swung me in, and ran like their tails were on fire. That was some night.

It’s a pretty exciting campus, obviously.
