just wanted to share my new laptop stand with you all.  all it is: 6 cd cases wrapped in paper! I used a crayon to trace the vaio logo.  it keeps the unit pretty cool since at least half of it is open to the air.  i used to use the lapvantage dome which i really like but it just doesnt suit my new desk space setup.  i didnt know what else to buy i couldnt find anything that i liked or that was the correct height for me.  so i made my own

I’m glad you took it in the sprit in which it was given. I’d have probably just plonked down my huge Webster’s Unabridge Dictionary and been done with it.

You might just browse around kitchenware and storage departments for a just-right container, tray, drawer, whatever. The bonus is that it could hold stuff you want handy but don’t use all the time.

Radio Shack has a good selection of self-adhesive pads and “feet” that would work to raise the rear.

as far as the crayons go i covered the crayoned paper with heavy duty clear packing tape so hopefully it wont melt through

Attribution can be as simple as including the title, author and publisher in a sentence just like this one. Scanning entire pages could be a little iffy. Selected quotes are no problem, particularly those parts that mention you or TR World.

Well, the entire page is dedicated to me and this site…so that’s my concern. It’s not just a quote or anything like that.

I really doubt the author or publisher would care. Inclusion here would in no way damage sales of the book. In fact it’s likely to sell a few more copies.

I’d contact whoever sent you the promotional copies and, out of courtesy, ask them.
