I’ve run out of diskspace…!
I’ve uninstalled everything i can and deleted all the stuff i don’t need, but i’m now stuck for space yet again…
I’m taking an awful lot of digital photos on my travels, and that isn’t likely to slow down!
What are the imediate option availiable now without waiting for the 60GB drive to become available…

I suggest an external drive, I’ve been using them for years. Easy to make and still have some portableness. Go out and buy a drive. I would suggest the universal Western Digital 120 GB Special Edition with the 8mb Cache. Then buy yourself an external enclosure…one that works with USB 2.0. Install your WD120 drive into the enclosure… Seal the enclosure…plug it into the wall, and plug the usb into your computer…turn on your hard drive. Go to device manager and select the WD drive…you will find a “Populate” button under one of the tabs when you bring up the drive in device manager. Click on that…and format the drive. Now you can use it! There is a small green arrow on the bottom right system tray. Click on that. It will be the way you can disconnect or reconnect the drive. In the future it can be made to work just like an enormous flash drive. In the past I’ve used both the USB enclosures and the firewire enclosures….both are quite nice. Some firewire enclosures have two out going cables…so you can network a drive between two computers. Well have fun. If none of this works just look online, its common to make external drives. Good luck.

OK, option 1: which drive… and can they make use of that power connector by the firewire port????
Option 2: I really need all my photos online… they are all backed up anyway…
Can they not make a second drive bay out of the PCMCIA port??? Would be very handy…
If you get a sony one it will work off the firewire, not sure about the other ones. You can get one that works with a PCMCIA as a flash based system, but it won’t be too big. Not sure if there is a PCMCIA to external hard drive.

I know that my dad uses a backup drive conencted through his PCMCIA port. I guess it’s an IBM one as that’s who he works for, but I couldn’t be more specific than that :|
I use a Netdisk at home - it plugs into any router and is accessible to all the machines on the network. You do have to intall the Netdisk software on every machine though.
There are also some new routers that let you plug an external drive into them and they make it available to the network - another cheap way to get NAS.
I think there was a thread here a while ago about pc card drives. Not sure if they come an bigger than 5gig though.
i just posted something here that might help u recover about 4 gig on ur tr harddrive: http://www.siliconpopculture.com/sonytr/viewtopic.php?p=22822#22822
but in general, an external drive is a must. and they are so cheap now! i got a 160 gig Ion drive for about 110$ after rebates at Frys. but in general, it seems like hd space is about 10$usd a gig. not so much.
hey, i wonder if the new T-series drive fits in the TR? having a 60gig on board would be nice!!!
