I am looking for a bluetooth adapter. I was thinking for one that wen into the pc slot. That didn’t have anything hangin out of it. So I could get it into my sleeve case and it won’t look ugly.
Any help? I’ve found a few of the pc slots but some people review that it wouldnt work with cell phones? I don’t understand why some people are saying bt is sensitive with compatibilty.
[quote author=“Chris687”][quote author=“gameson”]i see u have TR, why don’t put one inside TR? i know it costs $150, but then it’s worth it. i did it and i m glad i did it.
I want to, but I am scared to open the thing up and mess something up.
just gotta take your time and believe in yourself. you can do it!
Really guys, it’s pretty simple. If you don’t have good tools, I’d suggest picking up a jewelers screwdriver set from some place like Radio Shack. Using your kitchen screwdriver cum icepick is not suggested.
Use the largest that fits, you can tell when it’s a good seat. When you tighten things up, stop when it first firms up.
Other than that, print out gr00vy’s instructions and go to it. BTW, the instructions to identify each screw by location is wise as some are longer than others.
Look how many of us have done it with no problems.

well, if u have build a desktop before, then it’s not hard. if u never open up a desktop at all, i suggest you better ask someone else or buy the components, print the instructions and ask someone professional to install it. maybe labor will cost $100 if u ask professional. so total is $250.
Ok thanks everyone. I will go ahead and do it. Just right know that seems like a lot of money. When I get like a usb BT adapter for $20.
I guess it will be worth to save a usb port and not to have to look at the ugly dongle that hangs off.
RIght now I have no BT acessories, if I did I would probably be more excited to do. Like that apple looking pc mouse thats coming out. But when I am done I’ll be over $200.

You can say that again. BT cost me $500 or so, on stuff that, essentially, I really don’t need.

Well, thank you Erik.
Thats what I believe. I think I should try out a dongle and see if I like it. If I do then I could do the upgrade later on.
BTW- I could find better things to spend $500 IMO.
it slowly adds up.. i’m kind of eyeing the bluetooth car kit(i don’t have a bt headset) right now. probably going to go for it when the treo 650 becomes available. btw p910s are available on ebay for about $950-$1000. that should drive the prices for the p900 down some.
I started with a BT enabled phone and picked up a Jabra headset when they first came out. $150
When I got the TR, I wanted to use the phone’s data services and was originally going to try a dongle. Thought about the plug&unplug;, crap hanging out and within a day or so of getting the TR I ordered the BT parts. Never regretted it. $140
Found a nice little BT mouse. $60 Then the GPS. $235
Someday may want a keyboard and if they fix the stacks and prices get real, a pair of BT stereo headphones (that also work with the phone) might be nice.
I’m not interested in doing printing or other network stuff using BT, I have 802.11 for that.
