This seems the most pointless addition to the Sony range, it adds nothing other than Dolby Virtual Surround support to the TR5, and sounds as if it has a 256mb stick of ram that isn’t removable, making the max 768mb.. everything else bar styling is exactly the same.
Completely pointless.

Looks like those pictures that were posted in another thread were not bogus. I wonder why Sony made this move? It is so similar to the TR. Will it replace the TR?

Well, it looks like it will replace the TR….it has in Japan where the TR is quickly vanishing from their site. It’s a shame though. I would have liked to see them extend the TR longer by adding the new Intel platform. You never know though…they may have planned to do so but Intel never delivered and probably forced them to release this “stopgap” model.

I don’t even consider it a stopgap, it’s a step down.
A repackaged TR, except:
No Webcam
Max768MB Memory
...and despite the image, not a word about Bluetooth.
But it’s 1 ounce LIGHTER.
If it were April 1, I’d be looking for the “gotcha”.

Yeah the memory is the killer…1GB is a minimum for me, at least.

Well the look of the thing is important to me as well as spec. I wouldn’t look at this twice! Its ugly compared to our TR’s and S models.

Buy a few more BT peripherals, you’ll change your tune.

Nothing says more professional, than different colored casing. And the multimedia function keys above the keyboad
This is a step down. Less ram. No Camera? If white/siver is out, then apple is in for one hell of a surprise
It did say it would be added to there ultra portable line. So maybe they’ll keep the TR!!!!

We can only hope, but I won’t hold my breath. Depending on price it looks like competition for the Fujitsu P series.

If the T uses the 1.8” drive, I bet the P faithful will not be impressed.
The P’s modular bay is another big hit with that crowd.
