Hi all

Just a few days ago I thought that the TR1MP was the only option open to me in the UK but the 802.11b standard and 256 MB RAM put me off. Then I found links to the TR2AP3 and stumbled across the thread in which twynne had received one from the US without having to pay import duty . Next I see gr00vy0ne’s fantastic post about the a/b/g upgrade.  :shock:

Now I thought that I could buy the TR1MP, do the gr00vy thang, throw in another 512 MB and have something not far short of the TR2AP3 spec but with Bluetooth.

Problem would be if the TR1MP has one of the 802.11b/Bluetooth 1.1 combo mini pci cards. Gr00vy0ne’s upgrade would remove the bluetooth :(

Can anyone tell me if this would happen?

The Bluetooth module is separate from the WiFi card. We know this from the Sony TR1 sevice manuals that were posted on the net. Also, Intel does not make a Bluetooth/Wifi combo miniPCI card. Centrino platform technology does not currently include Bluetooth so it’s definitely not integrated on the card.

So, fear not.

A modified TR1MP it will be then. I can live with 900 Mhz and 30GB.

As the TR1MP Pioneer on this, you will, of course, be expected to take pictures highlighting Bluetooth-type stuff and note any differences from gr00vy’s guide and then post the results.  :D

Made various attempts to get a TR1MP at a price that made this upgrade sensible, financially, but couldn’t. Even though it would have been fun to get inside the 1MP I succumbed to temptation and went for a US import.

Up to someone else to be the pioneer now.
