I forgot to mention and this will kill this product for me and some folks here…it doesn’t have built-in Bluetooth nor any apparent option to add it internally.

I can’t imagine what they’re thinking, unless the idea is to actually suppress BT for a few product cycles until one of the PAN wannabes matures. That’s not supposed to happen until ‘07 or later.

Or it could be they’re like the theoretical room full of monkeys with typewriters. Given infinate time they produce a masterpiece… then continue on generating the same old gibberish.

I’ll continue to enjoy my TR and, when the time comes to retire it, hope some other maker has picked up Sony’s ball. I’ll take substance over (sony)style any day.

Yeah, in essence, the new T makes the TR much more valuable. I’m glad I renewed my warranty on it and plan to keep it for a while or at least until something comparable comes out.

Type T looks slick to me, with something sticking out from the top.

Also type B as a docking station.

I wonder where is TR model on the list? :?

Again, I agree. The two year warantee extension with accidental damage I purchased feels like a really good investment now.

Funny how BT spoils you, even as poorly as it’s been implemented. Until there’s a better alternative I’ll stick with BT and refuse to allow any laptop of mine to dangle a dongle.

same here. i ‘like the concept of built in camera.

with VOIP popularity, camera is indespensiable.

I really don’t see my TR as a collectable.

Yes, we are a diverse group and it’s a pity to lose a machine that, out of the box, meets so many different needs. I await the day when the webcam hater finds himself wanting to videochat with a distant loved one or the don’t-need-no-bluetooth user discovers how cool it would be to jump on the net via his cellphone. Extrapolate the minimalist bs and let’s get rid of the ethernet and modem ports. After all, who needs ‘em, we’ve got wireless… except when we don’t have wireless.

As for Bluetooth in the new T series, if you look at the high resolution pic posted in Sony’ site http://news.sel.sony.com/digitalimages/photo?photo_id=166591 you will see Bluetooth as an option…. so it will be available probably as a CTO model.

Ah…nice catch there. Oddly enough, there’s no mention about it on the JDM models. Could it be that the US models will get Bluetooth and the JDM ones won’t?  :ph34r:

you can’t get rid of the ethernet port yet… the modem yes, but not the ethernet.
Until wireless catches up, which I doubt it ever will, then I’m still going to want to hook the TR up to my desktop to copy films/music over.

Now stop pointing out these new laptops which I can’t even pretend to afford :(

i want it cause its there.  but i would lose a bundle if i sold my tr2ap3.  it is not even a year old.  but i might go for the T
