[quote author=“linc”]based on the data provided above.. would it be safe to say that notebook coolers in a non-direct way prolongs the battery life since it helps keep the temperature down..?
Of course, but how much is another question.
There are at least two threads that I know of covering this topic. The salient points, as I recall, were:
1. It’s gonna die no matter what you do. From the moment they’re manufactured the clock starts ticking. Two to three years is about the best you can expect.
2. If you have a spare cell, storing it as suggested will extend its life.
3. Retrain with a full discharge/charge cycle every so often for the sake of accurate battery charge indication.
4. Don’t discharge and forget to charge or it will eventually fall into self-discharge and destruct.
The battery has some thermal isolation from the rest of the TR as it’s in its own case. The only time the battery itself will generate significant internal heat will be during charge or discharge. Once charged it just sets there. My TR’s been on for about 20 minutes now and the bottom is warm, the fully charged battery feels cool.
