Who makes the TR2 HD?  I know that Sony Used Toshiba’s in the TR1, but it appears the Toshiba doesn’t make a 40GB 1.8 inch HD.

Mine says its a Toshiba MK4004GAH hard drive, the same one used in the 40GB iPod.

The newer 40GB model is similar to the 30GB model in terms of performance and speed. The main difference is the difference in areal density. Toshiba is slow at getting new specs up for their products.

As of right now only two companies make 1.8” HDs and Toshiba is the number one company doing so. IBM/Hitachi just recently joined the mix with the announcement of a 40GB model but I haven’t seen any of their products around yet in actual shipping systems.
