When typing in low light or dark areas one or two small LED lamps to illuminate the keyboard would be nice.
The ThinkLightâ„¢ keyboard light allows you to work in low-light conditions. Located on the top edge of the display, this tiny LED illuminates your keyboard to let you keep working. ThinkPad notebooks are the only notebook family with the ThinkLight keyboard light.
Sorry dbs, but are you a novice geek? Come on, don’t tell me you haven’t memorized your keyboard layout now. So tell me, where does the ^ key come from?
Haha, still, it seems useless. If I can’t find a key in low-light, I just max the TR brightness for a second, find it, and put brightness back down.

It’s not a matter of memorization, it’s finding the home row in the dark. I often find myself reclining on the couch while using the TR. In a dark room with ones head at a sharp angle to the keyboard it’s an irritation to have to conciously orient to the keybord. Tilting the screen or turning up the brightness seems a half-something solution.
Oh, you wanna know about the little hat? The circumflex is normally placed over a lower-case vowel. I’ve never really looked into it, but I’d wager it comes from the French (who use it widely) given the large number of French words in the English language.
yea i know what your talking about dbs. I really would have like something like that to…. I hate having to focus hard if I need to see a number or something like that. And I still for some reason cannot get over the fact that the S has no right Fn key….
[quote author=“Rahul”]just get this little USB light from Targus. It’s extremely small and clips on to the TR’s screen and has a retractable cable.
Thanks, Rahul. Actually I’d not seen this one. I have seen a half-dozen other variations on the theme. One that kind of appealed was a LED on the end of a flex cable. Kinda like a miniature gooseneck lamp. To date I haven’t seen anything that made me want to run right out and get it.
I have the one I mentioned and some other one by iogear (the one with a flexible cable)..it has 8 leds in it. But, when it comes to convenience of carrying nothing beats that targus light…since the cable is retractable the entire unit becomes extremely small. Also, it has a protective covering so when ur travelling the unit will not sustain any kind of damage which might be the case with the flex cables.
How about a back lit keyboard with adjustable intensity. If Sony could squeeze that into the low profile keyboards on their notebooks it would be quite a feat (not to mention how cool it would look). I am just throwing out alternatives to clip on lights, even if the alternative is only wishful thinking.

Is the light directional and sheilded enough to not glare when your head is close to screen level? Almost anything would work when sitting well above the TR.
