The latest P’s screen is pretty good and very much like Sony’s XBrite. In fact, every vendor and their dog is bringing out an “alternative” to Sony’s XBrite technology whether it be called ClearView, SuperShine, or whatever. So, despite everyone’s early complaint about glossy screen…pretty much every vendor decided that it was and is a killer feature. You simply need to go to any computer store with notebooks lined up. The XBrite models totally standout and make the others pale in comparison.
Also, new techniques and manufacturing allow the glare to be less of an issue. I could swear that my Type S’s XBrite + whatever AR coating they’re using is a little bit better than my original TR1s.
So, we can thank Sony for leading the industry down this path since everyone is trying to copy it. I don’t know if the P’s screen is better but it’s much nicer than it was before and that’s a good thing for customers.
