VAIO desktop question

In addition to my TR2 I have a Sony Vaio RX551 desktop.

Does anyone know if the motherboards Sony uses support multiple processor speeds?  It would be a welcome suprise if I could just toss a faster P4 CPU in it.

Do you mean in the laptop? Cause if so, it would be highly improbable, if not dangerous.  Most of the laptop’s components are specialized to fit in the TR’s frame, not to mention probably customized, therefore making it incompatible with a faster P4.

Lord No, I didn’t mean the TR.

I mean the RX551 desktop.  It currently has a 1.6ghz P4 ... was looking to up the CPU.

I guess you’d have to find out what motherboard was in the desktop and look up it’s specs and see what processors it can support

Haha, love the response.  But anywho, try googling for a desktop diagnostic. 
Should be able to tell you the technical specifications of your desktop.
