but seriously, its quite surprising why some of u’ll feel that the battery will fall out…firstly to take out the battery u need to hold that thing with release printed on it…even if that wasn’t enough they’ve provided a lock too.
I don’t think the battery will fall out, mine has been loose since new, I put a base pad underneath, between the battery compartment and the battery (the self adhesive peel off type) you get with electronic equipment to stick under each corner). It does the job and stops it rattling. When you pay as much for a TR the battery shouldn’t be loose, but I didn’t send mine back to Sony, I heard that it may come back worse!

Oftentimes, I forgot to put it into a lock position.
But it never falls from my TR.
I noticed that it wasn’t fully snug in place when I first installed my battery on my TR. It kinda bothered me at first. But I got used to it. Kinda kewl to find out on this post that there is a fix.
I wish I had some pink foam
Is there any downside by putting foriegn objects in the battery compartment?
I cut a piece of velcro into thin strips and then just stuck it on the battery. Works like a charm, but only one side of the velcro is needed not both sides.
In any case, any type of tape or foam will suffice between the battery itself and the unit.

I wouldn’t do it. My baby gets hot enough without some kind of insulating material inside it. The battery goes bad faster the warmer it is kept too….
ADDED NOTE: This goes for both my TR and my S (which I and my friend have noticed the problem on.) On my S it seems like the battery will simply slide out unless I use the lock for it.
