Don’t knock the IBM, its a very good machine…personally, its a bit too big for me and I think the Sony had more going for it. If the Sony wasn’t available I would have taken the IBM over the Fujitsu.

Me too. Over the years IBM has always been on my short list. What surprised me was finding a Sony PC that I liked. Had an early Vaio and was not impressed.
IBM is the best laptop in term of performance/technology wise. unfortunately they don’t have style. if let say there are 2 similar laptop style/design, one with IBM inside and one with sony inside, i’ll pick IBM over sony

Early Sony PCs were POS IMO, I wouldnt have looked at them. Back then my view of Sony PCs were they were for people who didn’t know better, but knew of the Sony name. (I am talking about the first few desktops)

Now, its a whole different story.

Actually the machine spec’d out pretty well for the era and the price was right. I was in a position where I didn’t want to build my own and had one of those ‘instant gratification” moments.
At least Sony finally figured out how to build a PC a few other wannabees like AT&T never did.
back in june i received a t41 from ibm. i got my money back cause the
wireless wasn’t working at all.
the t41 the screen wasn’t anything special. side by side with my friends toshiba, they looked the same. however when i saw a tr3 at the sonystore, totally different.
there’s no comparison cause each are in a different league. the tr screen is totally clear, very sharp. if you haven’t seen one, go to a sony store and check it out if you can.
you’ll know exactly what i mean - ibm and sony’s tr series are two different leagues completely. you have to see it to believe how awesome the tr series screens are
