[quote author=“writetovarun”]Well i want to use it to transfer files from the toshiba to the vaio or vice versa using the BT dongle and the BT on the vaio. So your saying that sony BT in the vaio is only meant to communicate with other sony BT’s ? Dont you think thats just ridiculous and kinda makes it futile. I think it definately does. Ill try and update the drivers and hope they work.
No, I didn’t say that at all.
If you have working BT on the TR that can pair with ANY OTHER devices, then BT on the TR is working.
If the same holds true for the Toshiba w/dongle then it is working.
If not, get each working with a known pairable device.
One of the computers must be made “discoverable” and the other instructed to search for bluetooth devices. If that works you can try to pair them. If that works you can look to see what services are offered.
You might try swicthing roles on the computers. They might pair only one direction, one may offer better services, etc.
Beyond that, I’ve no idea how to convince the two operating systems to offer file sharing sevices to each other.
The XP SP2 bluetooth connection wizard may offer this capability. I don’t know, haven’t seen much written about peer-to-peer under bluetooth. Someone in the forum wrote about setting up a bluetooth network, but I think it required software written for and the use of a specific BT access point device.
