Why would you want to do that? First of all, the cooling system in the TR is designed to cool a 7W Pentium M chip. The lowest a non ULV Pentium M chip runs is 21W. So, you’re looking at very seriously cooling issues.
Secondly, the power drain would be greater negating some of the advantages of the TR’s long battery life.
Of course, if you just want to do it for the kicks and your warranty is already out then you’re free to do it.
thank you for your reply, gr00vy0ne
because the CPU is a little bit slow compared with other laptops.

Actually, it’s obvious this person isn’t comparing to other subnotebooks because there’s nothing faster than the 1Ghz (or 1.1GHz) ULV Pentium M chips in this class (subnotebooks with 2 spindles).
Anything else is above 4lbs and is in a different class of notebook.
Who says the TR is slow ? Its not slow at all. I tested my system the other night running about 12 apps simultaneously and the TR did it like a champ ! I ran
1) Jasc Pro
2) Sony Handicam Video Editing software
3) Creative Jukebox 20 GB file transfer
4) about 5 windows of IE
5) Ripping CD-A files off a CD
6) Clone DVD
and a few more ..
All this accounted for about 55 % cpu performance. and thats that. nothing more ... Now i think this certainly performed beyond my expectations. And by the way did i mention i have 512 RAM only. My TR is about 10 days old, as if that makes any difference.
So TR is truly a great machine, suitable for doing most things i would ever need to do.

what laptops are you comparing the tr to?
Sub notebbooks
i read the review from PC world which one i coudn’t remember. but it was last year. they said Fujitsu P5020 is actually faster than SONY TR.. but only a bit..
The Sony TR series is slower compared to larger laptops.
I know these laptops aren’t good for gaming but they work great for most any other task. The main things I use mine for is office related tasks and software development (Visual Studio .NET 2003). It’s plenty fast for those tasks.

IE, above four pounds = a brick. Has anybody looked at the Toshiba ‘Media Centers?’ They weigh in at ~ 11 POUNDS. That’s not portable. That’s break your back 10 minute battery portable.
