[quote author=“Chris687”]I’ve never personally hooked up dsl. I have a friend asking me for my help. SBC wants to charge her $200 just for coming out to her house.
Anyway here I go. Do I have to have a computer always connected to the modem since it I believe or thought has to dial through to connect unlike cable.
Or is that not true, can I have it hooked up to a wireless router and no computer at all?
its really not that hard. you do need a computer to configure the router first..however a constant computer to router connction is not required for the router to stay connected to the modem. the dsl modem & router statys on constantly so you can maintain a constant connection to the broadband service. like hansenen stated..follow the directions. if you can read..you should be able to set it up fine.
