Hi guys and gals

I remember looking at the C1 quite a few years ago and was interested in a piece of software it came with.  Basically, the software would generate a barcode on command which you could then assign to a record in a database or file on your machine.

You could then wave the barcode infront of the motion eye to retrieve the file or database record.

Now I know the TR doesn’t carry this software, but am told that it’s available for download “somewhere”. 

Does ANYONE who may have had the C1 remember the name of this software and, if so, know where I can get it from?

Yeah!  I spoke to Sony in the United Kingdom (their telesales team) and they told me that the software DID exist and that you COULD download it for free from the internet.  When the discovered that I wasn’t going to buy a TR from them though (already bought one, though still waiting for it to arrive - so excited) they were reluctant to share any further details.

Got distracted and lost the link but there’s a company working with Ericsson, Nokia and other cell phone manufactures to use camera phones as readers. On their site they show webcams as usable with their applications. I couldn’t get the site to provide further details.

There’s software out there if it’s worth your time to dig it out.

Nope. The above is a proprietary application for embedding URLs. The outfit I found offered true barcode support.
