Time for a little fun that may just tell us something about one another or establish a bond with someone who shares your interests.
What do you collect? And, Why?
It can be anything from bottle caps to Bugatti’s, coins, stamps or Beanie Babies. Feel free to throw in a description of your most cherished item or how many items are in your collection.
Me? Well, I collect watches and fountain pens. I love watches for their intracacy and workmanship and prefer watches that don’t rely on a battery to power them. My favorite is a Breitling Old Navitimer. As for fountain pens, there’s something wonderful about filling a pen from a bottle of ink and then watching it fill up a blank page as you write. Like watches, fountain pens are intricate mechanisms that show some of the finest craftmanship in the world. My favorite is a blue-barreled, gold accented Aurora Mare that is individually numbered.

essentially money serves 3 important functions. it is a medium of exchange, unit of account, and store of value. also, there are two primary reasons to have and collect money: 1) transactional motive - money is demanded so we can buy stuff and 2) portfolio allocation motive - since money is an asset, we need to allocate it accordingly with all our other assets (most important consideration is risk and liquidity).
anyway, just a quick macroeconomic intuition lesson.
i collect tons of digital pictures of my almost 2 year-old daughter.
As my screen name suggests, I collect knowledge and understanding of the being who created this rock we walk on, and about the world that lives outside of our own mortal, vain lives. There is truely very little this world has to offer me that is of strong interest other than the evolvement of technology.
I collect Cuban cigars, high end Cognacs and Whiskies, Steinberger guitars (and some other guitars). Since I get loads of guitars free on a regular basis, I am constantly trying to thin out that collection!
Anime DVDs, figures, and cels. It probably doesn’t count as collecting, but I also buy up tons of gadgets. I also seem to be going through a lot of laptops, there’s six within reach currently.
