I have a Dell 1703 Tft external monitor that I used to hook up to my TR5 and it worked fine. I have a slight problem that has been bugging me since last night and I cant work it out . I hooked the monitor up to my new S1XP and have noticed that when the laptop shutsdown the monitor stays on and u get that bouncing dialog box saying check the connection, so the TFT is not shutting down, but it used to with the TR5 hooked up. Anyone had similar problems or anyone with advice please let me know before I go mad PLEASE

i don’t know how you did it with the tr5 but i always had to turn off the monitor manually. the vga port only provides vga signal..it can’t turn off the monitor for you..

Does the TFT go into standby mode, ie; on but not functional? Or does it remain clear & with VIDEO NOT DETECTED sign?

It remains clear with the Video not detected signal, it definitely went into power saving off made when I had the TR5 hooked up

You have an option in the power options in control panel to turn off the monitor at the time of your choosing, this works fine so the VGA port on the S can turn off the monitor.  I think it could be linked to a software issue.

all that does is turn off the lcd on the notebook. the power on the external monitor is still on. if there’s a software solution..please do let me know.

Hey I use an external all the time with my S and it automatically goes into power-saving mode once my S shutsdown…just trying messing around with EVERY settings you have…and if that doesn’t work….reset everything to original settings…
I never changed anything and it automatically power-saved.
