Why buy from me?  U know me.  I live here - in ur hood.  I am honest and will tell u everything that’s wrong with the box.  For example, there is a small mark on the screen creating a pixel shadow, looks like a scratch but cant tell. There are a few scuffs on the case.  But outside of that, perfect.  The battery has a high amount of cycles, but hey, this unit was used to the max for a year and only failed once - on Mt. Everest!  Now it has a new factory fresh hard drive and keyboard, with 2 years left on COMPUSA repair warrenty (International).  It’s solid.

Okay friends, help me out.  I need the bucks to keep my humanitarian and animalitarian work in Nepal / India going strong.

seems to have helped me alot!  i did not even expect to sell my tr1 on ebay cause i have absolutly no respect for it all. (i do however believe in the paypal product). i recommend everyone mention they are in this forum…it may generate even more traffic which translates to a better forum.  special kudos to groovythang once again!!!

thanks for those words dbs…funny, 2 years ago (pre-TR time) i had NOTHING good to say about VIAO computers, but since my TR purchases I have all praise.  Even with the warrenty/repair support here in Cali - it took them OVERNIGHT to do the hard drive replacement.  I must be blessed…

Don’t get me started on ebay. They suck.
(rant) Try getting any help from them with regards to anything. One particular thing i love is when you have some idiot (with a zero rating) hit your buy it now and close your auction and then disappear. Ebay charges you the sales fee instantly but you have to lodge a payment reminder, non-payer warning, reuest for credit etc etc and make sure you do all these things to a strict timeline and then 30 days later apply to have the sellers fee refunded. If you miss any of the deadlines you are stuffed.(/rant)

Well I haven’t voted in the above poll as I use a combination of the options.

I have used ebay quite a few times now, always with good results.  I only buy stuff when I know what I’m talking about (electronic goods etc) and so I can ask loads of questions and see if the seller knows their stuff.
I’m also picky about what I bid for on ebay… normally it’s just factory sealed or very new with a valid reason for sale…. (or very old video games but that’s different!)

If I can’t see what I want on ebay then I’ll hunt around on the web for the best price.

Of course I’m not immune to a spot of impulse buying on things in shops, if priced well :oops:

I had a very unimpressive desktop unit a few years back and pretty much wrote Sony off for their proprietary BS. Still feel that way about their desktops.

Glad to hear you got good service. Sony got a really bad rap in the recent PC Magazine Readers poll. Top ranked machines, bottom-of-the-barrel service. Sony won’t listen to us, but bad PR usually gets attention.

yea, the sony service people in san diego must have thier feet to the fire for that one. the spaky flake at compusa told me however that they have had good luck with sony in the past few months, with turnarounds less than 10 days.  that seems acceptable to me. knock on wood i ever have to use them again…

Ten days beats the weeks I’ve heard mentioned. May none of us need it, but your experience gives us hope should the worst happen.

personally I think Ebay is a tremendous advance.

It has great risks and apparently the service is poor.

However, I have transacted about 40K on Ebay.

I’ve lost about $500.

made a bundle.
