Typical of any American…I tend to assume most locations are within driving distance, and if not, they’re not worth it.
But on a separate note….where is Wiltshire? Do you have a net broadcast? For us out-of-country Yanks?

Driving distances in the US, especially the western half of the country are just astronimical compared to what the rest of the world is used to. They mentioned something in the interview about David and Leigh being “so far away”. I belive Salisbury is about 75 miles away from London.
Congrats on the interview, David. Is Wiltshire a decent-sized market in the UK?

Yeah, you’re dead right Drachen - it’s about 80 miles door to door, a mere hop and a skip for you guys!
BBC Radio Wiltshire covers a reasonably sized area, but the aim is to approach a number of radio stations and build up coverage outside London hopefully - it’s easier to get exposure, and far less stressful..

When my parents were living in Kansas, they had to drive two hours to Wichita to shop at a real shopping center (or the equivalent in the mid-70’s).
Good strategy. It’s hard to break into the bigger markets without the backup of a label with you. It’s even hard in the smaller markets in the US these days. Everything is basically owned by 2 or 3 companies. You can’t get anywhere without having to bribe… did I say bribe? I meant market… to Clear Channel.

We have a double mindset here. The Eastern US is densly poplutated compared to the West. The Western States had to battle for years to convince the Eastern representatives that 55Mph speeds were unreasonalbe. From Salt Lake City it’s roughly 500 miles in any direction to a city with over 1 million population. On the way are numerous 40-90 mile stretches with no services and, often, nothing but landscape.

A lot of us in the East did the same. I remember being upset when I found out that none of the highways in downstate NY were going past 55. Then again, we have some of the oldest parkways in the world here. The Bronx River and the Saw Mill in Westchester both have stoplights on them and many of the older parkways have stop signs instead of entrance ramps.
Hmmm…. No Amero-centrism around here. No sir.

Whatever other failings the US may have, we’ve got roads. As for miles and miles of empty landscape other places in the world top us, but few can do it at 75Mph.

Not quite, Leigh is from New Zealand, whilst I am indeed in the UK, which basically makes us eligible for competitions etc on both sides. Leigh has quite a strong following over there and her contacts suggested we entered the competition.
I’m looking for a good excuse to go to New Zealand anyway - I’ve heard its rather nice…...

Wadham,
Any new tracks to buy yet. I’ve played the 5 song CD to death and want some new tracks
Browsing TR World in bed on my TR listening to Leighs voice is so relaxing.
