I searched on the forum, at stores, and online, and I found many cases that CAN hold the TR, few that SHOULD, and even fewer that are good at doing it. The fellows dvd player case, http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1067391221737&skuId=5962087&type=product , looks to be alright, although I have heard it can only hold dvds, no power adapter, or that might have been another case, I don’t know. Right now, I am using the soft case from sony, I keep my TR in it when my TR is in my backpack, but I don’t have a case for when I want to just bring my TR, not my whole backpack. Any suggestions? What is the conclusion to the case race?
I liked the waterfield, except, it seems like the extra pouch thing is kinda odd it seems to stick out a lot, and seems to be not very big, is there anything which will hold the TR and hold an extended batter, charger, and other things in one case?
I don’t have an extra battery, but I suspect the Waterfield pouch is a bit too thin for that, but here are the current contents of my pouch:
- Power supply brick and cord
- iRiver in leather case (slightly bigger than an iPod)
- Sony EX71SL earbuds and extender
- Sony MSAC-US20 MS reader
- 512 MB MS
- A CD jewel case
- 6’ 4-6 pin FireWire cable
- 4’ USB cable
- 6” USB cable
- Sony PEGA-BT1 dongle
- PEGA PEGA-WL100 CF wireless card
- MS to MS Duo adapter
- A pen, a T-Mobile SIM card, a Clie USB adaptor and at least 2 outdated train schedules.
My main criticism of the pouch at first was that it was too small. I now think of it as “tight”. :|
you can always use pcga-ck5t, but i guess u want a case that hold everything, TR, adapter, among others. just one word, if you do that, the chance of getting TR scratch is big since you mix all together…
pcga-ck5t usually cost around $50 + $20 s/h from ebay
I read Drachen’s post and someone else (appologies, I forget who) mentioned Waterfields Ipod Gearpouch. I wanted something small that would just hold the basic necessities.
Current contents of the gearpouch:

Bluetake BT200 Bluetooth Mouse
Kensington 33051 Universal Air/Car notebook adapter
Sony MDR-EX51LP Earbuds
Sony VGP-MCA10 5-in-1 PC Card (PCMCIA) Flash Memory Adapter
Zip-Linq ZIPCELLM01 USB Cellphone power adapter
Sony DSC-T1 Cybershot Camera (in case)
Lint-free cloth, screen wipes, misc. memory sticks, MS Duo adapter

I’m suprised that sony actually made a memory card reader that supports other formats other than just their memory stick and memory stick pro. had just returned my pny 4-in-1 that didn’t support ms pro and got me a VGP-MCA10..only 5 dollars difference in price. .

Surprised me too. Early on I picked up a no-name 4-in-one so I could read smartmedia. I saw the MCA10 on Sony’s site and ran the cheapie back to CompUSA. They didn’t have the Sony part but a buddy needed to buy something so I came out clean. When I say cheapie, it wasn’t price it was the shoddy construction. Almost scared me to insert a flash card in it the fit was so bad. The decision on the Sony part was a no-brainer. It’s a really nice addition to the TR. Particularly since I can’t think of anything I want that would use the PCMCIA slot. TS should be proud of us, we’re multi-flash capable. 8)
I bought myself the Incase Sling back. It is a lightweight backpack designed for small notebooks (marketed mostly for Macs). I am not sure were you can get in the USA (I heard that they are available at Apple Stores though). The back is very nice, really stylish and extremley comfortable! I can really recommend it!
what about it..? why not 6-in-1 instead of 5-in-1? i feel the same way as dbs about the cheapo ones. the build quality/fit is not that great. the capability to support xd is great but i doubt will ever utilize it.

If I’d spotted it, I may well have picked one up instead of the Sony. I don’t mind covering future options, but I’ve long since stopped chasing technology. I figure by the time I need XD, the 8-in-1 will be the hot ticket. Then again…
