going to put my just “replaced” TR1a on ebay cause i need the quick cash. So what is the thing worth my friends? It just came back from Sony for hard drive replacement (they also put in a new keyboard for some reason) and has one GIG* of memory. It also comes with a transferable 2 year international warrenty from Compusa, and the unit is in good shape and exactally one year old today!
As u all may remember, this is the unit that went to everest where the drive failed. and i was surprised to find out that the 2 year warrenty that i bought from compusa or 299$ IS NOT REPLACEMENT, its a repair warrenty. The spackey little toad who sold me the warrenty flat out lied! BEWARE OF TOADS WORKING IN CITY OF INDUSTRY COMPUSA, CA.
Anyway, the warrenty sold there works like this: extends the mfg one. Compusa sends to Sony for first year (mfg coverage) then to another company for the next 2 years (who in turn sends to sony). What a joke, but they fixed the hdd gave me a new keyboard all in under 2 weeks….
anyway, give me ideas on how to price this puppy….
thanks…jigs…

The best thing to find out its worth , is to go to ebay and do a search for TRs and then try and find one with similar condition as yours. Im sure you will find plenty. So you know exactly what the “going” rate is.

thats why i am asking u, my pals, as there are NO tr1s for sale as of today. these are rare perhaps, a collectors item, so maybe i should start the bidding at 15,000 USD :xeno:
No doubt about it.. Sony customer service is really like WTF is wrong with these guys, they are like the biggest consumer multinational in the world, why the hell cant they sort their product warranties out or atleast inform their managers and salesmen to give right information. Trust no body you guys. Always check about 10 times before buying any product.
Depending on where you are located as well as your seller history and item condition/accessories included.
A good listing from a reputed seller can go between $1,000 to $1,300 at current, and you probably have a little luck going to $1,400. The usual last month was between $1,300 to $1,450. However, the prices are falling, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them fluctuate back up in the next few months ( it always happens, at least with electronic goods ). You could compare to the price of a bare TR3A ( no battery, no A/C ... only unit itself ) which could easily sell for $1,500 to $1,550 on ebay a couple of months ago. Again, prices are steadily fluctuating.
There was a Buy-It-Now auction for a TR1 that included the box, manuals, and Office XP student/teacher edition that sold for about $1,200. I don’t know if that helps or not, but TRs priced under $1,400 and including additions to the auction journally sell like hot-cakes ..... so fast, I usually don’t see the listing survive for more than 2 days.
This is just my experience in product hunting on the TR at ebay. Good luck with finding a buyer.
Personally i think i’d be more inclined to buy a product from you if it were just a forum thingy you know. But after a few bad experiences i dont really think i’d be buying from ebay anymore. But then i hope ofcourse for your sake, that everyone out there is not like me. ..so i hope u have the best of luck.

-best, Concura
thanks concura, that wAS very helpful as far as setting a reserve, etc… well, here goes…
may be Australian specific but anyway; last one i sold on ebay - TR1, 512MB RAM, Japanese model with bluetooth and english windows XP pro, went for $1500 US.
I have seen em go for about $1400US but no lower.
That said; it did take me 3 listings, hundreds of spam “you wanna sell me laptop real cheap post straight away to indonesia me pay credit card”, and fending off dozens of legitimate but low offers - to sell.
Many people wanted to buy it for $500-$1000 but i stuck to my guns and told em to blow (nicely of course :D )
The other thing to factor in is that ebay stings you for pretty big fees once you sell it and on that sort of money it could be $50 by the time you factor in their fees.
